The story of 'Red Chillies' directed by Shaji Kailas and produced by Renjith under the banner of Rajaputhra Movies is shrouded in mystery.
Mohanlal plays the lead character OMR alias Omar, an affluent NRI businessman who runs a FM radio station and has business deals in several countries. Though nothing much is known about the man he is brought into limelight when an accident on a New years eve lead the cops to him..
In fact, the movie begins on a New year eve when 'Red Chillies' an all girls music band with 9 members gets involved in an accident. Petrified, the girls flee from the site leaving their car behind. Incidentally the girls work for Omar and it was his car they were driving around. OMR is forced to come down to India.
As the mystery unfolds, several other characters come to light including a Panchayat President portrayed by Thilakan who is irked by a land deal that did not materialize, and several others. On the trail of the case are four police officers played by Siddique, Vijayaraghavan, Biju Menon and Ganesh
A come back movie of the trio, director Shaji Kailas, Scriptwriter A K Sajan and producer Ranjith behind the super hit 'Chinthamani Kolacase' , the film also has the distinction of bringing Mohanlal and Thilakan together after a long gap.
